Library Cards

Library cards are free to residents of St. Charles Parish.

Please bring a government issued photo ID with your name and current St. Charles Parish address to any of our 6 locations and fill out an application.

Residents under 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian present during the application process.

Resident Cards (Adults)

If your ID does not have your current address, bring one of the following: 

  • Current utility bill 
  • Lease/rental agreement 
  • Property tax bill 
  • Postmarked mail with your name and current address 

Non-resident Cards

Cards are also free for adults who work, attend school, or own property in St. Charles Parish. Please bring one of the following for proof of eligibility: 

  • School ID or tuition bill 
  • Employee ID or pay stub 
  • Property Deed or tax bill 

If you do not live, work, go to school, or own property in St. Charles Parish, out of parish cards are available for adults for a $25 yearly fee.

Resident Cards (Children)

Cards are also free for children who live in St. Charles Parish. Residents under 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian present during the application process.

Parents or guardians will choose the level card for their children when filling out a library card application. 

Level 1 (Traditional) Cardholders can check out:

  • Books, audiobooks, Playaways, magazines, and DVDs in the children's, teen, and adult collections. 
  • Most items in Hoopla and Libby

Level 2 (Limited) Cardholders can check out:

  • Books, audiobooks, Playaways, magazines, and DVDs in the children's and teen collections. 
  • Most items in Hoopla and Libby

Level 3 (Restricted) Cardholders can check out:

  • Books, audiobooks, Playaways, magazines, and DVDs in the children's collection.
  • No items in Hoopla and Libby
     

Everyone can access educational databases.

No one under the age of 18 can check out hotspots, rated-R DVDs, Launchpads, and Playaway Views. 

No one under the age of 18 can check out movies rated R or above, TV shows rated MA or above, comics rated PA or above, and music with parental advisory on hoopla.
