West Regional Reopens
After a six-month closure due to Hurricane Ida damage, the West Regional Library in Luling will reopen Wednesday, March 2 at 9am.
The roof and some walls of the second floor of the library were torn off during Hurricane Ida. This led to water damage on the entire second floor, which housed the Louisiana Room and meeting room, and the first floor immediately below.
Hurricane repairs include a new roof for the second floor of the library, the gutting of all damaged areas, and a temporary wall built to close off the back half of the building until it can be repaired.
Some materials and spaces will be unavailable due to hurricane damage and renovations. The Louisiana Room and meeting room are unavailable, and the materials found in the Louisiana Room are currently being remediated. Books and other materials can be requested and delivered to the West Regional Library through our courier service.
All computers, study areas, Wi-Fi, and two study rooms are available.
Events and activities will also resume in March.
Weekly storytimes for children up to age 5 take place every Wednesday at 10:30am.
