Library Status Update
Library team members have been able to safely assess the status of all of our library branches over the past few days.
Unfortunately, the West Regional Library in Luling has sustained major damages, mostly on the second floor. The roof and one entire wall were ripped off the building. We are working to save materials from our Louisiana Room Collection. Most of the rest of the library and the Planetarium are in good shape.
The East Regional Library in Destrehan has a tree leaning on the children's room side of the building and other trees down, but otherwise appears to be okay.
The St Rose Branch has some small roof leaks and many trees down. Overall it appears to be in good shape.
The Paradis Branch is in good condition, with only tree and fence damage observed.
The Norco Branch has some roof leaks, but overall the building is in okay condition.
The Hahnville Branch has some roof leaks and a power line on top of the building, but overall the building is in good shape.
We will continue to update everyone on the status of our library buildings and our recovery efforts. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone in the area as we work together to rebuild our community.
