Coronavirus Update
March 19, 2020 at 4:15pm
Due to the Coronavirus COVID-19 national emergency, all St. Charles Parish Library locations will remain closed to slow the spread of the virus. The library will reopen when we determine it is safe for our staff and patrons. All updates to the library’s open status will be posted at www.myscpl.org and on the library’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/StCharlesLib
“Although the library buildings are closed until further notice, we will be working to do all that we can during this time,” said Library Director Leann Benedict. “In an effort to help flatten the curve, library staff will not be working in our buildings for the next two weeks. During this time, staff will be working remotely, ready to assist anyone who needs help with our online services, as well as sharing fun and educational things that you can do online. We are doing everything we can to protect our patrons and staff and are looking forward to welcoming everyone back into the library as soon as possible.”
All library cardholders have access to all of our online services, including eBooks, eAudiobooks, magazines, movies, tv shows, comics, music, and more. We are regularly adding to our eBook and eAudiobook collection and have increased borrowing limits.
Email info@myscpl.org or visit http://www.myscpl.org/email if there are any questions about or problems with your library account.
Starting March 19, anyone who lives, works, goes to school, or owns property in St. Charles Parish is eligible for a free temporary online library card to use the library’s online services. Fill out an online application at www.myscpl.org/onlinecard, and your library card number will be emailed to you. Once the library reopens, you can visit the library to pick up your permanent card.
There is wi-fi access in the parking lots of all of our library buildings. Bring your device and connect for free!
Overdue fines will not be charged during this time period, and due dates will be extended until April 13. Any items that you have on hold will be here when we reopen. Since we do not yet know when that will be, no one can place any items on hold right now. All library book drops are closed. Do not return any materials that are currently checked out, including interlibrary loan materials. Please do not bring any donations to our buildings.
